Steve
is a part-time Instructor in the College of Business Administration of
Winthrop University where he teaches Corporate Taxation. Steve retired
from Deloitte Tax LLP in 2008 where he had been a Firm
Director in the
Tax Controversy Services Group since 2003; working first in Chicago,
Illinois, then in Detroit, Michigan. Previously, Steve had been the
Assistant Vice President, Taxes & Chief Tax Officer of Allegheny
Technologies Incorporated, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1981 through
2002. Prior employment experience includes positions as Tax Counsel of Incom International Inc. in Pittsburgh from 1977 to 1981 and as
Supervising Tax Specialist at Coopers & Lybrand (now
PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Pittsburgh from 1973 to 1976.
Steve received his B.S.
Degree in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University in 1970 and
his J.D. Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1973.
In addition to being an attorney, Steve is a Certified Public Accountant
in Pennsylvania (inactive).
Steve is a member of the
American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations and their
Tax Sections as well as the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of
Certified Public Accountants, and their Tax Sections.
Steve had been an active
member of Tax Executives Institute, Inc. serving as International
Secretary, International Treasurer, a member of the Executive Committee
from 1999 to 2002, Chair of the IRS Administrative Affairs Committee,
Regional Vice President, Chapter Representative to Institute Board of
Directors twice, Regional Conference Co-Chairman, and Pittsburgh Chapter
President, Senior Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Steve is the
recipient of the 2003 Distinguished Service Award for lifetime service
to the tax profession from the Pittsburgh Chapter of Tax Executives
Institute, Inc.
Steve and his wife, Carol,
live in Lake Wylie, South Carolina and have 3 adult children and 3
grandchildren. |
